Logging In - Entering Your Username and PasswordTo log in to a UNIX computer, you must supply your username and password. "Username" A unique name that is assigned to you by the system administrator. Often, this is your first or last name. "Password" A sequence of characters that should be kept confidential. To use your login account, a person must know both your username and password. Other users will know your username, but for security reasons you should not share your password. The username and password are assigned initially by your System Administrator.
